Ashé Yoga Collective is a virtual yoga studio cooperative of teachers and yoga school that elevates LGBTQ and BIPOC voices, bodies, and realities of those identities in the service of community repair. All classes, events, trainings, and workshops are inclusive, intersectional, intergenerational experiences that invite all into expansion of awareness and holistic wellness.
Through embracing student agency and body diversity to build ashé, the West African concept of the energy that transforms, students are able to see themselves through authentic movement and meditation practices.
Tamika Caston-Miller founded Ashe Yoga to focus on the subtler practices of yoga that are so very needed, especially for those whose intersectional identities, like hers, leave them at the crosshairs of marginalization and largely left to figure things out for themselves in yoga communities.
Ashe Yoga Collective does not exclude any community, and deeply appreciates the allies who are in the work of social justice and harm reduction. Dedicated to the building of radical compassion and the disruption of despair, Ashé Yoga creates restorative classes, events, workshops, retreats and trainings that empower people to share their gifts and themselves with the world.
What is a series?
A series is a group of classes that are joined by theme. Taking a series will guide you through a journey into complete experience of something meaningful for you when you need it.
What kind of yoga do you teach?
Ashe Yoga Collective prioritizes the slower practices as we have found they foster the type of healing we hope to see in the world. You can expect Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Slow Flow, as well as other types of somatic movement practices.
Will I see my teachers when I'm practicing?
We have two types of classes — livestream and on demand. Our livestream classes are via Zoom, allowing for you to see your teacher and your teacher to see you. We believe that this is important to building community. On demand classes are at your leisure and are pre-recorded.
Will I ever be able to practice with you in person?
You’ll absolutely have opportunities to practice with your teachers at pop ups and retreats. Currently, our teachers are in Houston, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Huntsville in the US, and as well as Mexico and Ecuador abroad.
